Happy Thanksgiving and Peaceful Black Friday!!!

I spent Thanksgiving Day sewing. I finished another boxy zipper pouch, this one interfaced with 100% cotton batting (no scrim). (Photos in a later post.) My new machine has a bit of a problem with this: the presser foot doesn't rise high enough to fit all of the layers that result from seams with multiple layers of batting. Had to do a bit of hand stitching. Note to self: be careful with layers of batting when sewing on this machine.

I also finished up a decorative towel project that I had started earlier in the week. I used two Dollar Tree Christmas kitchen towels to make four of those over the stove handle hanging towels. (Photos to follow.) Not difficult but a bit fiddly in places. I think I am the only one who will see the mistakes. Two will become part of an early Christmas gift and the others will go to the curb with my next purge box. I don't use polyester towels and didn't realize these weren't cotton until it was too late.

Then for late Thanksgiving Dinner my roommate and I had steak, baked potato, and pumpkin pie. No turkey for us this year. The pumpkin pie recipe was from the label on the can of pumpkin from the store.

We also planned out Christmas Dinner and New Year's Day Dinner. Nothing traditional but still good food. Christmas -- hamburgers and Caeser salad with hand-cut french-fries and my favorite chocolate pie. New Year's -- chicken enchiladas with pinto beans and homemade vanilla ice cream.

Happy Holidays to all and to all a Good Life!
