Rope and Thread Creations

The last 10 days have been eventful. The unusual (for this area) Winter storm is just about done, and things are getting back to our version of normal. Meanwhile, I've been sewing.

I've been playing with thread color and decorative stitches on the sewing machine. The white with green thread is the largest of the recent bowls and may be my favorite. I love its simplicity.

These two have a lot in common and are more dramatic than their green cousin. About the same size but a bit smaller than the green one.

I have plans for more once some thread arrives from Amazon. It's held up at the US PO. Should be getting it tomorrow....

And I've had a more successful dyeing experiment which I intend to document once I verify that it gives reproducible results. That one coming soon, I hope. Waiting for cotton (rather than synthetic) rope and some new thread. Amazon deliveries have been slowed by the weather.

I've been going through some rope! On average it takes me about 50 feet of clothesline / macrame rope to do a medium sized bowl. Rope tends to come in 50- to 100-foot hanks or 200-foot spools. I've bought a few (LOL). So far, I've made 23 successful bowls. There were a few in there that I considered unsuccessful for various reasons and didn't finish; didn't count those and didn't photograph them. There were a few smaller than average bowls and a couple of larger. I haven't kept track, but I don't think I've really used quite 1100 feet of rope. Working on it though!

Have done some cooking also -- chicken enchiladas and an easier chicken enchilada pie -- but that is for another post.

Stay warm!
