MarketPlace

The last day or so hasn't been too creative because I've been involved with my MarketPlace sales. For those who don't know, MarketPlace is a creation of Meta, the owners of FaceBook, Instagram, and other social media. MarketPlace is a place to buy, sell, trade a variety of goods. For me, it is a virtual yard sale and is currently making more money for me than the actual yard sales I held last year with a lot less effort involved.

For those interested, my seller profile is at this link through Facebook.

For those who think they might like to sell on MarketPlace, here are a few of the lessons I have learned along the way.

  1. Be organized. You need to keep track of what is listed, what you have buyers interested in, what you have promised to someone, and what has actually sold. MarketPlace helps with this but you have to work the system.

  2. Be explicit. Take good photos and write good descriptions. Also include any terms for doing business. For example, all of my listings include some variation of the following text:

    • Must meet in the MWTX Walmart parking lot near the entrance to the car wash.

    • I do not ship.

    • Cash and exact change only.

  3. Be prompt. Answer inquiries about your listings quickly and honestly. Also, if you arrange to meet someone to complete the transaction (meeting in a public place is highly recommended for everyone's safety), be on time or a bit early.

  4. Be flexible. Sometimes I meet somewhere else and my prices are always up for negotiation.

  5. Don't be greedy. No matter how collectible it is or what you paid for it or what you think it should be worth, a thing is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

So there you have it. When I'm not busy with day-to-day chores and I'm not creating things or planning to create something, I am generally occupied with my virtual yard sale on MarketPlace. Come visit at Facebook.
