Zipper Pouch (part 3)

Here it is. Zipper Pouch 1.0. Finally finished. Far from perfect.
I wanted to practice straight seams more and did that. I think I am getting better. The aid of a chalk line in the quilting part was great! Also, the aid of a quarter-inch foot was wonderful!
I wanted to practice zippers in this type of application. Zipper foot to the rescue. That went pretty well although my inability to sew a straight line resulted in having to pull about 6 inches of stitches and redo them. Also, remember to move the zipper tab to the center before trimming off the excess zipper!
Edge binding nearly defeated me again and this is the worst aspect of this pouch. Sewing through so many layers, 2 of which are fleece, makes things a little more difficult. Kudos to those quilters out there who manage to bind your edges effectively. Second attempt was acceptable and with that I called this one done.
Close examination will reveal several places where I should have picked out stitches and tried again. Often what you see is the second attempt or even third. At some point you have to move on.
I've been sewing on and off (mostly off) most of my life. But this is a new type of sewing for me. In the past I have made clothing and cloth dolls and little else. Now I am attempting things with interfacing, fleece, foam, and batting. These materials sew differently and I am going to have to get used to them. Meanwhile, I am having fun, learning new things, watching YouTube videos, and creating things which are my favorite things to do.

Five fat quarters later...
