Zipper Pouch 3.1

My second Boxy Zipper Pouch is larger and I think technically better than the first (Zipper Pouch 3.0). It uses the same method with the interior seams bound rather than hidden behind the lining. This time I got all 6 of the interior seams bound. (Last time I forgot 2 of the seams until it was too late to do anything about them without disassembling the bag.) I also remembered that lighter colors were better for bag interiors. (3.0 had a black and white interior.) In addition, I quilted the exterior of this one and it is somewhat sturdier. I really need a stiffer interfacing than the fusible fleece; next time....

The biggest problem with this zipper pouch is that I ran out of lining and exterior fabric before I bound the interior seams. I had to find another coordinating fabric for the binding of the 4 corner seams. The little pile of scraps in the foreground of the second photo is all that remains of the 3 different fabrics in this bag.

My plans for my next Boxy Zipper Pouch include using a different method for dealing with the corner boxing -- no seam binding needed. This will be Zipper Pouch 3.2.
What will I do with all of these pouches? The first one is still awaiting its purpose. The second is currently being used to contain my supply of silicon thread minders. The third was gifted to someone who is using it to hold old external disk drives for a computer. Number four is large enough to hold quite a bit more -- maybe some fat quarters? I don't know yet, but it will be used. I can always use nice containers.
But I think my next project will be another dish mat project using crazy quilt as you go technique. The last was fun and I think I need to practice my edge binding some more. We'll see.
In the meanwhile, stay creative. And if you have any comments, questions, or ideas to share with me, be sure to comment down below. I'd love to know what you think.
